Dr. Xiaoqing Song graduated from Huazhong Agricultural University in 2006 in Wuhan city, China, majoring in land and resources management. He worked two years in the Hunan Institute of Land Resources Planning, and then got his PhD in the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is now an assistant professor at the College of Geographical Sciences of the Guangzhou University, China.
His research interests include land use and land cover change, climate change impacts on rural-urban interactions, and multifunctional land management and sustainable urbanization. He is leading a NSFC project on “Coupling Mechanism of Changes in Pattern and Function in the Process of Regional Farmland Use Transition: A Case Study of Pearl River Delta, China”.
Xiaoqing is a member of Sino-EU Panel on Land and Soil (SEPLS), a member representative of the Geographical Society of China, Deputy Secretary of Guangdong Geographical Society, and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Geography and Geology. He also provides services as reviewer for academic journals such as the Journal of Geographical Sciences, and Sustainability.
