Liang Yang graduated from Southwest University in Chongqing, China, majoring in Environmental Resources Management and Urban-rural Area Planning. Then he got his Master’s degree in the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. In his Master's thesis he discussed measures to evaluate the urban land carrying capacity.
Liang completed his PhD at CLISEC in 2014, focusing especially on climate change impacts and adaptation on the urban system. He developed a multi-agent model to simulate the interactions between changing climate and urban development.
His research interests includes climate-related environment risk/vulnerability assessment, agent-based modeling on human-climate change interaction, and he seeks to develop solutions for climate adaptation, mitigation and resilience building.
