Mostafa Shaaban has joined CLISEC in October 2014 as a PhD student and received his doctoral degree in October 2017. His PhD research topic was “The Road map to Energy Security in Egypt” that aimed to design the best sustainable electricity mix scenario for Egypt. The study assessed the different electricity technologies from the technical, social, economic and environmental aspects using the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) tool. Additionally, it analysed the role of renewable energy technologies in adaptation and mitigation of climate change. His doctoral study was granted by a scholarship from the Hamburg Act for the Promotion of Young Researchers and Artists (HmbNFG).
Mostafa's current research interests include two projects:
1) "A dynamic sustainability assessment of electricity supply technologies in Germany: A spatial agent-based model combined with multi-criteria decision analysis" funded by KNU for travel cost support.
2) "Sustainable energy and land use under climate change in North Africa: The case of Egypt" funded by CliSAP for conference and open access publication support.
