ISA Award for CLISEC Associate Researcher Tobias Ide
18 December 2022
Dr. Tobias Ide just received the prestigious Emerging Peace Studies Scholar Award of the International Studies Association (ISA). The award honours outstanding academics that made major contributions to peace research in the first eight years after their PhD. Now a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Murdoch University Perth, Tobias completed his PhD at the University of Hamburg in 2015 and was a member of CLISEC for many years.
The award committee argued that Tobias’s research demonstrates the “advances possible when the field of peace studies is linked to scholarship in fields such as earth sciences and geography and how this scholarship can promote our understanding of threats to global peace.” He therefore continues a long tradition of interdisciplinary thinking between environmental studies and peace research at the University of Hamburg/CLISEC/CLICCS. The award will be presented at the 2023 Annual Convention of the ISA in Montreal.
This is already the third award Tobias won in 2022. Previously, he received the Enhancing the Environmental Peacebuilding Knowledge Base Award and the Vice Chancellors Award for Excellence in Research at Murdoch University.
